Los Angeles and my Alma Mater

Thursday we travelled down the Pacific Coast Highway from Ventura to Los Angeles. It was a beautiful day. If it is always this nice I can see why people like to live here. We travelled Santa Monica Boulevard to Beverly Hills where we did some shopping on Rodeo Drive.


After the shopping half the group went with the Haney's to Grumman's Chinese Theater and the other half went with me, Ms. Dickinson and Ms. Jordan to see my alma mater, the California Institute of Technology, Caltech. I have not been back in the thirty-two years since I graduated and it was good to have a chance to see it again. We went to the house in which I had lived, Ruddock House, and met some of the current students. They let me in and I showed my SMS students through the house. It really had not changed very much. We walked through campus to the lecture hall where I had physics class and we posed with the bust of Robert Millikan.



I really enjoyed getting to share a little of my past with my current students and it was certainly one of the high points of the trip for me.
